My Story

Tim Smith has had a varied and interesting 40-year adult life, pursuing his many interests while being a financial services advisor, executive and entrepreneur.Tim has spent his professional career in the world of finance and investments. In his early career he provided financial planning for hundreds of families in northern New Jersey. He then started a series of companies to support investment work for his own clients as well as those of other financial advisors. Those companies now have financial advisors in 65 offices in 37 states. Tim became involved in government in 2000 in his prior hometown of Roxbury, NJ. In 2004 he became Chairman of the township planning board, and later that year he became a Councilman. He served one term as Mayor in Roxbury also. Tim has also served his industry as a member of the TD Ameritrade Advisory Council, as well as National Chairman of the Financal Industry Regulatory Authority’s (FINRA) membership council, on which he consulted with FINRA and Securities Exchange Commission (SEC) regulators on regulatory  matters in Washington, DC. Besides politics, his primary hobby is stage performing, particularly singing, a lifelong pursuit. He recently developed two new stage shows, “How I Sang for 3 Presidents, and Other Stories”, and “Jesus: The Man”, about the life of Jesus as seen by those around him. He lives in Sarasota, FL and New Jersey with his wife Tara, and has three grown children.
